College professional membership organisation

The College is a professional membership organisation with charitable status, concerned with all matters relating to the science and practice of pathology. It is a body of its Fellows, Affiliates and trainees, served by the staff who are based at the College's central London offices.

Join pathologists and scientists around the world, as they promote pathology through a range of fun and interactive events. 


Trainees in medical microbiology and medical virology

The College is responsible for:

  • managing the continuous development, implementation and evaluation of workplace-based assessments for medical and clinical scientist trainees. 
  • managing the Learning Environment for Pathology Trainees (LEPT) system, an online record of learning on which all workplace-based assessments for medical trainees are recorded.
  • supporting and providing content for other e-portfolios such as the Online Learning and Assessment Tool (OLAT) for Clinical Scientists undertaking Higher Specialist Scientist Training (HSST) and the RCP e-portfolio for medical microbiology and medical virology.
